Welcome to LIT
Learning Independence Together
A program for adults of all abilities who are looking towards work and independence.
We offer both transition services for those entering adult life and a range of individual community classes for adults in any stage of life.
For individuals who are transitioning to adult and/or independent life, we offer an individualized program to assist in making this move as successful as possible. Working with the participant and family, we will help the participant discover their possibilities. To participate, you must include registration for a minimum of two full days of community classes. Please contact us to discuss this process further.
For adults of any age at any stage of their life journey - and open to individuals of all abilities - community classes are aimed at particular developmental/life issues designed to address needs and interests in specific areas. You may register for one, several, or all the classes - you choose! The classes are designed to be applicable in both the workplace and participant's daily lives. Each class will include plenty of opportunities to learn and practice new skills out in the broader community.
Dinner Club/Cooking Class
(Suspended temporarily due to Covid-19)
Now in its fourth year, this one-evening-a-week "club" is both informative and downright fun! Participants will not only learn kitchen skills, design and create their own meals, but will enjoy fun activities and the opportunity to socialize with their peers while learning.
We believe that developmental growth needs - for men and women of all abilities - continue through adult lives. Our mission is to empower and enable adults to acquire the developmental capabilities with which they can plan for, find, and succeed in meaningful life activities including employment, and to live a more independent life in their communities.
